Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Computing
The core of the PhD program is the application of technologies within the learning process. The doctorate in Educational Computing within the CECS Program focuses on defining, understanding, and expanding the synergy of technology and learning/instructional systems theory. Towards this end, a successful doctoral candidate will demonstrate proficiency in both process and content areas. Process proficiency refers to the skills and knowledge that graduates use in the course of being contributing scholars/practitioners; whereas, content areas proficiency is the domain specific knowledge and skills which form the foundation of our discipline. Students are prepared to accept appointments at universities and organizations whose mission is the creation and testing of innovative applications of technology to education and training. Currently, over 50% of graduating doctoral students have become Assistant Professors at other universities.

Doctor of Philosophy/Doctor of Education in Applied Technology, Training & Development
The Applied Technology, Training and Development Doctoral programs is a terminal degree program with an option of a Doctor of Philosophy or a Doctor of Education degree. The Doctor of Education degree (Ed.D.) is offered to prepare persons for high-level leadership roles in a variety of organizational settings. This program is oriented to the practitioner. Students apply knowledge, theory, and research results to problems in administrative practice in educational settings. The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree is offered to prepare persons for careers as scholars/researchers. It is a research-oriented degree with an emphasis on university-level teaching and research or corporate training and development.
